So, so sad......
Sad because my Vikings couldn't pull off the win. They always fold under the pressure of the playoffs it seems, but this year seemed somehow different. Like maybe they could've whipped up some post-season magic. Zygi Wulf sprung for the good players....we acquired Jared Allen, Bernard Berrian, and others that would help transform the hodgepodge of castoffs that Minnesota has always been into a team of contenders. And then of course there's AP. But then, it's hard to win when two of your key defensive guys are out (three, really, if you count EJ Henderson, but he's been out since Game 1). On the other hand, everyone's got an IR list full of people they'd love to have on the active list, so I think that's a wash.
Today magnified what everybody in Minnesota and everybody who follows the NFC already knows: we need a quarterback.
Frerotte surprised a lot of people, myself included, but he's not going to be around for much longer and I don't think he's quite starter material. Jackson's got potential, but he just can't seem to bring it all together. If we can get him to the level he's capable of, or if we can make a good off-season acquisition (hello, Matt Cassell...) maybe next year will be THE year. If we lose Chester Taylor, that will be bad...although I'm thinking it probably will happen. His power runs are key on 3rd downs, but he doesn't want to play second fiddle to AP, and I guess I can't blame him.
I'm so sad. :( Even my honey Troy calling the game didn't make me feel any better. And that's saying something.
Good thing I didn't make any bets with Betz.

I think Chester & AP are the perfect combo....you've got your break-free-and-no-one-can-catch-you and your plow-through-the-line. I really hope they can keep him, but the rumors are flying.
I think the same thing about TJ - he was way better coming back after having been benched for a good part of the season. And he really came back well after a bad play (might've been his INT)....so I don't know. If Cassell's not available, then they probably have no other choice than to continue to develop him because I'm not sure really who else is out there.
